In the Beginning
I started the Plain Miltary website around ten years ago for several reasons:
Living in an area such as Salisbury Plain you tend to get an interest for all things Military - quite often we get
Warriors, FV432s, Trucks and Land Rovers passing through the village. The purpose for this website is to also show
the local community just what goes on on Salisbury Plain, as they do tend to put up with quite a lot of noise from the
bigger exercises. Lastly I have tried to give a good reference website for anyone interested in building Modern
Military model subjects.
Plain Military is a pictorial representation of the the British Army on Salisbury
Plain, hence the limited amount of text. It is a policy that Plain Military do not post Troop Movements, Places
and any other material that may jeopardize the Troops and Regiments that frequent the ranges on a day to day
basis.
New Additions
The forum is a free site with free registration. Almost everyone that has had something
to do with Plain Military can be found stalking the forum, posting their lastest pictures and generally discussing their
interests with like minded people.
Another new addition to the website is the recognition column. Over
time I have been replacing the Stats pages with one of each vehicle that I have photographed on Salisbury Plain.
Alongside the vehicles there are pages for personal weapons, Heavy and light Machine guns, Mortars and anything else
I can find to help you with your model builds.
The main area of the website will be kept the same with all photo shoots being placed
in the center column.
Picture Usage
All the pictures on this website are Copyright of Plain Military and may only be used
with my express permission. Under no circumstances will I allow any pictures to be used in any format that
has potential to harm the British Military in any way. All I ask is that you respect my wishes.
Picture Supply
Over the last few years myself and others have supplied many photos to local
Regiments: 22Reg RE, 1RHA, to name just a few. If you are a local Regiment and you like what you see and would like pictures
for your Regiment Magazine, Recruting Booklets etc please feel free to contact me via my email as appears on the homepage
and I/we will be more than happy to help.
Picture Info
All picture galleries are linked to Photobucket as the pictures can be loaded
at larger formats and quantitys, which would be impossible to do on the Plain Military website.
Acknowledgments
Firstly a big thankyou to everyone who has helped with this website, you
know who you are, and without you guys the website wouldn't be what it is today!
Secondly, may I thank all the troops, officers and everyone else who have given Plain
Military the time to photograph your vehicles throughout the years.
Last but not least, my thanks to everyone out there in cyberspace for your
regular visits, requests and overall interest.
All the best and hope you enjoy your visit to the Plain Militay website
Tony Hoare.
